glamourös genug, um ein standesgemäßer rahmen für luzies geburtstagsparty-glimmer-glamour-disco-shots zu sein! so bekam jede der gast-damen nun ein paar erinnerungsfotos an den besonderen tag... ein solo-portrait von sich, ein gruppenfoto und ein schnappschuss zusammen mit dem geburtstagskind.

die bemalten papptellerchen bieten natürlich auch einen tollen rahmen für andere schätzchen. zum beispiel für die zeichnungen und malereien der kleinen familienmitglieder. falls das format des kunstwerks zu groß ist,  dann kopiert das bild einfach passend kleiner. so lassen sie sich stilvoll aufhängen und die kleinen leute sind nochmal doppelt so stolz auf ihr werk.

you can also use the painted paper plates to display other darling stuff of course, like drawings and paintings of the litte family members. if the drawing doesn't fit the plate, just scale it down on the copier to adjust the size. that makes a great display for the little one's artworks and they will be even more proud of it!

so kalt, dass über nacht die terassentür eingefroren ist und sich nicht mehr öffnen lasst.

 so kalt, dass einem der schnüttetropfen an der nasenspitze gefriert. echt jetzt.

der himmel strahlt, aber nein, ich möchte nicht raus, wenn ich nicht muss... das ist wirklich zu viel für mich. und bitte jetzt kein "es gibt kein schlechtes wetter, es gibt nur schlechte kleidung"... den spruch fand ich persönlich schon immer nervig, nichts für ungut. soviel kann ich nämlich gar nicht anziehen, dass ich bei diesen temperaturen nicht friere.

sun ist shining, but nope... i won't go out until i must. this is far to much cold for me. please don't ell me about  that "there is no bad weather but only bad clothing"... i just can't wear enough clothes not to feel freakin' cold.

ich habe ein grandioses, neues buch entdeckt, das möchte ich euch natürlich nicht vorenthalten. denn letztendlich geht es darin um eine problematik, der wir uns als blogger, etsy- und dawanda-verkäufer tagtäglich stellen müssen: der präsentation unseres blog-contents und unserer handgemachten produkte in möglichst ansprechenden bildern! 

das auge isst nun mal mit.

the crafter's guide to taking great photos von heidi adnum (ein englisch-sprachiges buch, dass dringend auch in deutsch erscheinen sollte, wenn ihr mich fragt) bietet hilfestellungen und lösungen für all die widrigkeiten, die uns in unserem foto-alltag begegnen. es erklärt technische kamera-basics und wie man ein foto planen kann. es zeigt, wie man das beste aus dem vorhandenen licht herausholen kann. es enthält sogar tutorials, wie man sich hilfsmittel wie lichtreflektoren, blitz-diffusoren oder eine einfache foto-hohlkehle mit ganz einfachen mitteln selbst bauen kann. 

i just stumbled upon one ingenious, new book and i really don't want to hold it back from you. after all it's about all the difficulties we have to deal with every day as a blogger and as an etsy or dawanda seller: that is how to present our blog content and showcase our handmade creations in most appealing photographs.

the crafter's guide to taking great photos by heidi adnum is full of solutions for our everyday photographer problems. it explains camera basics and how to plan a photo. it shows how to get the best of lighting. it even offers tutorials how to build a simple light reflector, a flash diffusor, a seamless background and more.

wunderbar finde ich auch, wie einzelne kreativ-bereiche in separaten kapiteln ganz detailliert behandelt werden... stoffkreationen & mode, accessoires, gestricktes, schmuck, puppen & spielzeug, keramik, kunst uvm. häufige probleme und FAQs werden besprochen, auch ein kapitel über bildbearbeitung fehlt natürlich nicht. den abschluss bilden wunderbare tipps für das eigene business... wer kann da noch mehr wollen?

bei mir sind da keine wünsche offen geblieben. wirklich keine. ein tolles buch! 

i really love the fact that each craft is covered in a seperate chapter... fashion & fabrics, accessoires, knitting, jewelry, dolls & toys, ceramics & pottery, art and more. common problems and FAQs are discussed and of course there is a chapter about photo editing. the book ends up in really good business advices.... who could ask for more, please?

for me this book leaves nothing to be desired. nothing. i love this book! 

tiefgefrorene vitaminbomben

frozen vitamin bombs

ihr wisst ja mittlerweile längst, dass ich keine große frühstückerin bin. wochentags ist mir ein schneller smoothie am liebsten. aber wenn er so richtig viele zutaten hat, dann ist das mit dem "schnell" schon wieder so eine sache.... deshalb finde ich die idee von handlich-griffbereiten smoothie-portionen so genial!

in meinen mixer landeten vor ein paar tagen also... bananen, tiefgefrorene heidelbeeren, karotten (besser gesagt karottensaft, denn ich habe sie vorher durch den entsafter geschreddert) und frisch gepresster orangensaft sowie grünkohl. ja, grünkohl! wer jetzt denkt "iiiiihhhh, das schmeckt ja dann ganz kohlig!", der täuscht sich tatsächlich... der grünkohl hält sich geschmacklich dezent zurück. 

yor probably already know, that i am no breakfast girl. on weekdays i really like a quick smoothie. but with various ingredients it's not thaaaat quickly made... that's why i'm all enthusiastic about this idea of deep frozen single smoothie servings!

so a few days ago i mixed up some bananas, some carrots (actually fresh carrot juice because i strained them in advance), frozen blueberries, fresh squeezed orange juice and kale. yes, kale! if you think "yuk... kale!? that must taste so very cabbage-like!"... no, it doesn't, i promise!

die mixtur habe ich dann, ganz nach vorbild, in eine muffin-form gefüllt und sie ins tiefkühlfach gestellt. am nächsten tag kann man die gefrorenen portionen herauslösen, in einen TK-zipperbeutel füllen und so etwas platzsparender im tiefkühler aufbewahren. so wie das wetter im moment aussieht (vorhergesagte -12°C in den kommenden tagen), könnte man die portionen ja sogar draußen gefrieren lassen. ;)

i also filled up a muffin tin and put it in the deep freezer. next day i got the frozen mixture out of the tin, stacked it in a plastic freezer-bag to store it more space-saving in the deep freezer. considering the actual temperatures outside (-12°C forecasted) you could also freeze the whole stuff on the patio. ;)

jetzt werden die portionen nach bedarf einfach auf- oder auch nur angetaut und kommen nochmal zurück in den mixer. für meinen geschmack gibt es etwas sojamilch und naturjoghurt dazu, ein löffel honig und ein paar dinkel-schmelzflocken. frückstück auf knopfdruck. so mag ich das! 

now i can just take one smoothie serving out, let them thaw a bit and mix it up in the blender with whatever i like. i took some soy milk, natural yoghurt, a bit of honey and oatmeal lately. breakfast at the push of a button! i like!

kalt ist es geworden...

it grew cold... 

... verdammt kalt. das hieß gestern... draußen schlottern und drinnen schweißausbrüche. trotzdem hatten wir eine tollen tag mit meiner schwester und ihrem liebingsmann...

... damn cold. so yesterday that was like shivering outside and breaking out in a sweat inside. but we had a great day with my sister and her hubby anyway...

ihr erinnert euch sicherlich an die geniale FILTERTÜTENlampe meiner freundin sonni von neulich. ganz offensichtlich war nicht nur ich total begeistert vom upcycling des kaputten lampenschirms, sondern ihr auch! nun... daraufhin war sonja dann ziemlich begeistert von eurem feedback und so quatschten wir zwangläufig am telefon über das für und wieder eines eigenen blogs. wir alle hier konnten sie leider trotzdem nicht dazu überzeugen einen eigenen blog zu starten, aber ich habe sie nun als unregelmäßig-regelmäßige BESTE-FREUNDIN-gastbloggerin eingeladen! ha! kann ich gute ideen haben, oder kann ich gute ideen haben? OK, dann übergebe ich mal an sonja...

you surely remember the ingenious COFFEE FILTER lampshade makeover of my friend sonni lately. quite obviously you were as enthusiastic about her upcycling idea as i am! ... and sonja was quite enthusiastic about your kind comments on this posting. so we talked about her starting a blog on the phone, but i just wasn't able to convince her. then i had the idea of a sporadic-periodical BEST FRIEND's guestblogging! ha! do i have cool ideas or do i have cool ideas, please? OK, i give over to sonja now...

Du meine Güte, ich war ganz berauscht von Euren lieben Worten über die Filtertüten-Lampe! Ganz lieben Dank, ich könnte mich daran gewöhnen… Da es sich bei mir aber wirklich nur um vereinzelte Kreativ-Schübe handelt, kommt das Bloggen momentan für mich wirklich nicht in Frage.

Und dann hatte Nic diese ganz tolle Idee: ich hier als Gast-Bloggerin bei Kreativ-Schüben!

Jetzt bin ich ganz schön aufgeregt! Dann mal los...

OH, my goodness, thank you so much! I was kinda drunk of all your kind comments on my coffee filter lampshade! well, i think i could get used to it... Well, but since i am a more sporadical crafter i really don't feel like starting an own blog at the moment. 

Nic had a rad idea though: like me here as a once in a while DIY-guestblogger! Gosh, I'm so excited right now! Here we go...

Neulich beim Backen…

When I was baking the other day... 

…habe ich ein Reststück Backpapier in den Händen gehalten und hatte plötzlich die

Idee und noch eine olle Lampe greifbar. Also flott (ähem, ok das mit dem flott ist gelogen) 144 Kreise ausgeschnitten. Immerhin kann ich jetzt kann wieder top mit einem Zirkel umgehen. Die Backpapier-Kreise habe ich, wie Fischschuppen versetzt, mit Heißkleber an den Papier-Lampenschirm geklebt! 

... looking at a piece of leftover baking paper in my hands I had an idea and another old lampshade down the basement. So i quickly cut out (ahem, OK quick is actually a lie) 144 circles. at least I can handle a pair of compass perfectly again now. Then I took my hot-melt gun and glued the paper circles on to the lampshade in a staggered way like fish scales!

Das traurige und einsame Keller-Dasein einer weiteren in die Jahre gekommenen Lampe ist somit beendet. Shine on!

P.S  ich gebe zu, ich habe wohl sonja ein bisschen am telefon gefrustet, als ich meinte, es gäbe da ja auch solche kreis-stanzer, dann hätte sie sich die zirkelei sparen können. aber als ich es dann hier mit meinen motivstanzern ausprobiert habe, musste ich feststellen, dass das backpapier sich nicht schneiden ließ, sondern nur geknittert und gequetscht wurde. vielleicht waren meine auch schon zu stumpf? keine ahnung.... solltet ihr eigene erfahrungen machen, dürft ihr uns gern davon berichten. wir sind neugierig, was ihr für tricks habt. ;)

P.S. i must admit, that i told sonja something frustrating on the phone, like she could have used a circle paper punch for cutting the paper. but i tried to cut baking paper with mine and it didn't work out. the paper wasn't cut but only crumpled. maybe my tools weren't sharp enough anymore... i don't know. if you want to share some own experience with that, please let us now. we're curious to hear your tricks. ;)

haben wir ins neulich nicht erst "frohes neues jahr" gewünscht? die zeit fliegt und schon geht unser FOTOprojekt in die ZWEITE runde 2012... hier sind die februar-themen. doch erst lasst mich nochmal schnell sagen, wie unglaublich beeindruckend ich unseren JANUARHIMMEL finde!!! ich habe es noch nicht geschafft, jeden einzelnen blog zu besuchen und die bilder in detail zu sehen, ich versuche, das nachzuholen... die collage allein ist schon großartig!
 

didn't we wish each other "happy new year" the other day? time is running and our PHOTOproject is already in round TWO of 2012... so here are the february challenges. but first let me tell you how much i love our amazing JANUARY SKY !!! i still didn't manage to see every single blog and pictures in detail, i'm sorry for that and try to catch up... that collage is just adorable!

ist mein innerer lemming nicht ganz so zappelig, wenn es um blogger-contests geht. dieses mal hatte er allerdings ganz schön schwerwiegende argumente, der lemming... "hey, solange du denken kannst, gab es immer eine BRIGITTE im haus, und damit meine ich nicht deine tante brigitte! du hast schon in der BRIGITTE geblättert, als du noch nicht einmal lesen konntest! als teenager hast du bilder ausgeschnippelt und dir alben mit inspirations-collagen gebastelt. heute würde man das wohl mood-board nennen... oder auch gleich bei pinterest pinnen. die zeiten änderten sich, aber die BRIGITTE blieb in deinem leben. ich meine, hey! dieses mal MUSST du einfach mitmachen, frau pimpinella!"

my inner lemming is not that twitchy when  it comes to blogger contest. but this time he had some convincing arguments up his sleeve, like... "hey, you had a BRIGITTE at home ever since you can remember and i don't mean your aunty brigitte! you have been browsing through the BRIGITTE long before you were able to read a word! when you were a teen, you cut out pages to create inspiration collages. ok, today you would call it mood board or you would go over to pin something on pinterest. times have changed but BRIGITTE stayed in your life. i mean, hey! this time you simply HAVE TO join, mrs. pimpinella!"

nun... dem hartnäckigen lemming sei dank, ich bin nun tatsächlich dabei, wenn die BRIGITTE die/den kreativste/n blogger/in 2012 sucht. jeden monat nominiert die selbst sehr kreative JURY (holly becker von decor8, steffi luxat von Ohhh... mhhh... und DAWANDA-gründerin claudia helming) drei blogs, die daraufhin eine DIY-idee vorstellen dürfen... die/der gewinner/in jeder runde bestimmen wiederum die user. ende 2012 wird dann die/der kreativblogger/in des jahres gekürt und darf eine große selbermach-strecke im heft mitgestalten. also, frau pimpi bei und in der BRIGITTE, das fänd ich ja durchaus charmant... vorerst sehe ich es jedoch olympisch... dabei sein ist alles! ... über ein HERZIGES klick freue ich mich natürlich trotzdem. dankeschön.

well... thanks to the stubborn lemming, i'm in... i'm in, when the BRIGITTE is searching for the most creative blogger 2012. each month the creative JURY (holly becker from decor8, steffi luxat from  Ohhh... mhhh... and DAWANDA-founder claudia helming) will nominate three bloggers to join a DIY-battle. the monthly winner will be chosen by user-voting then. the final winner will be elected at end of the year and will be part of a big DIY-report in the magazine. that really sounds good to me... but for the time being, i keep up olympic spirit... the most important thing is not to win but to take part! nevertheless, i'd really appreciate some CORDIALLY support. thank you!

ich möchte heute die gelegenheit nutzen, um nochmal an die URSPRÜNGLICHE IDEE des foto-projekts zu erinnern. in letzter zeit habe ich öfter den eindruck, als würde diese ein bisschen in vergessenheit geraten. also seid mir nicht böse, wenn ich heute mal die piffige projektleiterin raushängen lasse.... ;)  BEAUTY IS WHERE YOU FIND IT ist nach wie vor ein projekt mit dem fokus auf eurer FOTOGRAFIE... die herausforderung, mit der kamera ein bestimmtes thema umzusetzen, vielleicht sogar seinen umgang mit dem eigenen fotoapparat zu verbessern und auch sein eigenes auge für schöne details, auch ganz alltägliche, zu schulen. die fotos sollen auf jeden fall von EUCH sein! richtig klasse ist es, wenn sie für das jeweils aktuelle thema extra geschossen wurden, manchmal klappt das aber nicht (geht mir ja auch nicht anders), da sind dann thematisch-passende bilder aus dem archiv ebenfalls herzlich willkommen!

jedoch bitte ich euch sehr, euch mit dem posten von produkt-fotos in verbindung mit shop-links zurück zu halten. ich finde handgemachtes und selbst-designtes wunderbar (wie sollte ich auch nicht!? ;) und wenn das schöne fotografieren eines solchen gegenstandes eure persönliche herausforderung ist und auch zum thema passt, prima!... sollte mich aber das gefühl beschleichen, dass so ein posting vor allem der bewerbung eines shops dient, behalte ich mir... ganz piffig... vor, einen solchen beitrag in zukunft auch mal aus der liste zu löschen. sorry, nichts für ungut. OK, genug geschwafelt... los gehts, schließlich ist donnerstag!

let me take the chance today to bring the ORIGINAL IDEA of this photo project back to our minds. somehow it seems to me lately, that some points got lost along the way. so don't be mad at me if i'm playing the nitpicking project leader today... ;) BEAUTY IS WHERE YOU FIND IT still is a challenge focussing on your PHOTOGRAPHY... it's about challenging your kamera skills trying to capture the topic of the week... it's about teaching your own eyes to see the beauty in everyday's ordinary moments and stuff. the pictures should be taken by YOU! i appreciate every photo taken especially for this project... that's great! if you don't find the time (like i do myself sometimes!), please feel free to post some adequate photo material from your archive... it's most welcome as well!

but i asking you to contain yourself from posting product shots combined with shop links in this project. i really love handmade and self-designed items a lot (of course i do!). if photographing such an item in a beautiful way is your personal challenge and if it fits the theme of the week, go ahead! but if i get the dim feeling that a posting might conduce to some shop promotion only, i'll feel free... being a nitpicking project leader... to delete entries like that in the future. sorry, but no offense meant. OK, enough rambeled, let#s play... after all it's thursday, right!?
